Air Conditioning Troubleshooting Guide

If you are experiencing any trouble with your air conditioning system, you should contact Luquire any time of the day or night for help and service.  And don't worry, Luquire never charges its customers for overtime regardless of the day or time.  But here are a few things you can do yourself before calling for service.

Check to be sure your thermostat is set to the "Cool" position. (You'd be surprised how often this is overlooked by homeowners!)

Check to be sure your air conditioner's outdoor condensing unit is runningIf it isn't running, check your circuit breaker box or electrical panel to be sure the switch controlling power to the condensing unit is "ON".  If there is an outdoor "disconnect switch" on your unit make sure it is also set to the "ON" position.

Check to be sure the blower motor in your furnace is running.  The blower should be running if your thermostat is set to "Cool".  If the blower is not running then check the ON/OFF switch on the blower.  This switch should be set to the "ON" position.

Check the filter in your furnace.  If the filter is extremely clogged with dirt and dust then change it IMMEDIATELY.  The outdoor air conditioner unit can shut down automatically due to inadequate air flow stemming from a blocked filter.

Check all return air grills to be sure the vents are not blocked.  Be sure that furniture or other obstructions are not blocking the flow of ventilation through these vents.
