Air Conditioning by Luquire is teaming up with LIFESouth to host a community blood drive on February 12, 2014. Donations are used to provide lifesaving care in hospitals in and around the Montgomery, Alabama, area. We invite all local residents to come out to support this great cause — you never know when you or someone you love will need a blood transfusion to recover from a serious injury or illness.
About LIFESouth
LIFESouth is a non-profit organization providing blood to over 100 hospitals in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. These hospitals need over 266,000 blood donations per year to provide care for local residents. There are no substitutes for blood, and this need must be met through volunteer donors. The local need is equal to 728 donors per day.
LIFESouth has been responding to this need since 1974. The organization currently operates 42 bloodmobiles and 32 donor centers. The blood drive at Air Conditioning by Luquire on Feb. 12 will be one of over 1,000 blood drives LIFESouth hosts this and every other month.
Like all other blood drives hosted by LIFESouth, this blood drive will directly benefit the Montgomery community. All donations are used to supply local hospitals for the care of their patients. Blood is only shared with surrounding communities after local needs have been fully met.
The Blood Donation Process
At our upcoming Air Conditioning by Luquire blood drive, donations can be quickly completed during your lunch hour, on the way to work or while waiting for your kids to get out school. The actual drawing of blood takes only about five minutes. Before you give blood, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire and examination to help ensure you are healthy enough to give blood and your blood is safe to use.
Most healthy adults 17 years old and older are able to give blood. Other than a small prick from a needle, the process is painless. Giving blood is safe, and donors are given refreshments and a chance to rest for a few minutes after donating so that they will be able to quickly resume their daily activities.
