How to Make Your Heat Pump Last Longer

TECH heat pump maintenance installation

As an energy-conscious Union Springs, Alabama, homeowner, you know that low energy consumption and long-lasting household systems go hand in hand. From scheduling HVAC maintenance to adjusting the thermostat, find out how to make your heat pump last longer.

Replace HVAC Air Filters

One of the easiest ways to lengthen your heat pump’s lifespan is something you can do yourself. Replacing the HVAC air filter regularly keeps dust and other contaminants from entering your heat pump. It also keeps the air flowing smoothly through your HVAC system. Replace the filter at least every 90 days. Increase the frequency to every 30 days during the winter and summer.

Schedule HVAC Maintenance

Replacing HVAC air filters helps protect your heat pump. But at Air Conditioning by Luquire, we also know that seasonal HVAC maintenance is necessary.

When you call our team for an HVAC tune-up, we’ll inspect the wiring, recalibrate the system and test the airflow to ensure that your system is running as efficiently as possible. Since HVAC maintenance saves money, reduces energy consumption and helps your system last longer, it’s important to schedule a tune up twice a year.

Adjust the Thermostat

It isn’t easy to get the whole family to agree on a comfortable temperature, but keeping the thermostat consistent will help your heat pump last longer.

Set it to 78 during the cooling season and to 68 during the heating season. You can also set a programmable thermostat to dial back the temperature 10 degrees overnight to give your heat pump even more of a boost.

Tidy Outdoor Landscaping

Your heat pump performs best when the outdoor unit isn’t covered by fallen leaves and twigs, when it has plenty of room for airflow. Trim any shrubs or grass to give the unit three feet of clearance. Remove any debris to help your heat pump last longer.

Whether your heat pump needs a tune-up or you’re in the market for an energy-efficient HVAC system, we’re at your service. Contact the HVAC experts at Air Conditioning by Luquire by calling 334-230-5870.
